The brief was very clear, it needed to be easy to build, the manufacturing costs had to be low, whilst being spacious and practical, just like the rival Renault 4. In 1981 the first Fiat Panda went on sale in the UK and Europe, and whilst initial sales in the UK were slow compared to the EU market, it wasnt long before us Brits took it to our hearts. Over 40 years later and having sold in excess of 7 Million units, in 2011 the current MK5 was introduced at the Frankfurt Motor Show.
